The owners are lovely and the people are friendly. The room was spotless, the AC worked great, and all the appliances were new and working well. If you'd like a meal plan, you can get one, and Julia cooks delicious food whatever the meal.
I was there in 2006 and it was just right. Helpful, friendly people, comfy beds, a nice bathroom, and a great AC. The location was handy too, close to everything.
A couple of good friends and I stayed there on a surf trip in late summer 2000. We caught waves around 22ft, way too big for us since we were used to the waves at Folly Beach Charleston South Carolina. Still, it was awesome paddling out and watching the locals tear it up. We had an amazing time and would strongly encourage people to visit. The service was ur ok, but the SURF was what mattered.
Pavones is remote, and getting there means about 20km on a rough, rocky road. The quiet jungle setting makes that trip worthwhile. I visited in 2016 and found Hotel La Perla clean, with a friendly owner and staff, fast free wifi, aircon, very comfortable beds, a fridge, and a coffee maker. The beautiful, clean beach and surf are 100 metres away. Good dining and a couple of grocery stores are nearby, so you've got what you need for a quiet getaway, though there aren't other luxuries.
Comfortable rooms in a handy location, close to restaurants and other amenities. The price is reasonable, and the staff are friendly.
