The setting and layout were a letdown. The place is a group of studio apartments beside a car park, and some units have no terrace or patio despite what the website and other listings say. It sits in a swampy, rather dull area, with little nearby beyond a row of very overpriced American shops and cafes. The Racquet Club right next door was noisy, and during my visit there was loud welding and banging from construction there, close to some rooms. There are plenty of beautiful resorts nearby that cost much less. Don't be taken in by the photos or the word "resort".

We liked the houses as they are, including the outdoor sitting area with its mosquito net, even though I’d read complaints about the lack of locks downstairs. The upstairs can be locked. Inside, there’s a fridge, cooking facilities and other useful equipment. The rooms are nice, the staff are very friendly, and there are restaurants nearby.

The strip of shops and restaurants right beside the property is great, and the place still feels tucked deep in the jungle. Ojochal is a lovely little area. The Cabinisi is rustic, but everything works well and it’s all very nice. The staff have been great during our four-night stay.

Nature sounds are all around you here, but the rooms are comfortable, with AC, cozy beds and a TV. The showers were excellent too. I’d stay in Ojochal here again anytime. Such a great jungle experience.

We only came across Tangara Azul because it allows dogs, and ended up being completely impressed. The rooms are beautiful and roomy. There’s a nice little market, bar and phenomenal restaurant attached to the hotel, and the beach is a short drive or walk away. We loved it.
