The staff at both the hotel and restaurant were so kind, and even helped us learn a little Spanish. We loved the food, and our room was really comfortable. We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back a couple of days after checking out, but they were full. Book ahead, because it’s worth it. The honeymoon suite’s outdoor tub was a highlight.

The Caribbean sauce with my fish was delicious, but the fish itself was dry and tough, so I wouldn’t order it again. We’d had a good experience here in the past, but this visit has put us off returning. We waited at least an hour for dinner, and even though we arrived first and ordered promptly, our food came after everyone else’s. The large group had ordered in advance, so I understand why they were served first. I’m not sure whether we were last because we weren’t staying at the hotel. Our server apologized, but I wish someone had warned us about the long wait and that we’d be served after the other diners.

The pool is large, has a restaurant, and gives you the best view around the resort, mostly over beautiful forest with a bit of ocean too. The hotel is close to the main highway, with attractive restaurants at street level and by the pool. Rooms are little bungalows dotted around the property, which looked lovely. I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t rate the rooms, though they seem nice. A pleasant place to stay.

A good option if you get into the area late, since few hotels stay open late. The rooms are good, with nice forest views, and the rates are excellent. Breakfast was good too, and the staff were very helpful. In the morning, you can birdwatch from the rooms at the back.

The staff were lovely and clearly doing their best, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. My room and the restaurant were both right by the road, and the truck noise went on day and night. Sometimes we had to shout over it. I’ve seen reviews calling this a quiet place, so maybe those guests had rooms in a different spot. There were also a lot of midges or small mosquitoes around the pool.
