Over the week I stayed, I enjoyed every meal at the restaurant. The rooms suited this kind of lodge, and the grounds felt peaceful and thoughtfully put together, with all sorts of wildlife around, from hummingbirds and sloths to monkeys, hawks, butterflies, and frogs. The staff were so warm and attentive to what guests needed. It really felt like being part of the family.

We felt less welcome than we expected. Some of the staff seemed indifferent, and the owner's family often sat in the office looking annoyed, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. One younger staff member was caring and attentive, though, and stood out from the rest. The setting itself is lovely, surrounded by greenery, with paths and direct river access. Breakfast was a bright spot, especially the fresh coconut. The rooms are open to the outdoors, so people can see in when the lights are on, and there's no proper way to block light or keep noise out.

We didn't end up staying here, but my kids and I had a great time. The pool was their favorite, and they jumped straight in after dinner when we were allowed to use it. The food was some of the best we've had in Costa Rica. I also toured the property. They're still updating rooms, but the ones we saw were great and inspired by nature. No TVs in the rooms, which makes it easy to disconnect and take in the surroundings. The family running the place was super nice, and I wish them all the best. We left happy, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The hosts were so friendly, and the food was excellent. The garden was lovely, full of hummingbirds and other colorful birds. We even spotted three great green macaws in a tree once. The pool was clean and nice too.

An easygoing spot with lots of nature and good birdwatching. The value could be better, though. $80 for a room is definitely too much, and breakfast was very, very small.
