Hotel Plaza Yara

Stepping out of our suite, we immediately had a lovely jungle view, which made the stay feel special. We spent two nights there. The room was huge, with a small kitchenette and even two double beds, so there was lots of comfortable space. It had a slight musty smell, though we couldn’t work out the cause. Aside from that, it was clean and the staff were very nice. Breakfast was fine.

The main host, Yara, the French bulldog 🐾, was amazing, and all the staff we met were lovely. At checkout we even got a little souvenir. The breakfast was good, with a menu to choose from at the table, and my partner especially loved the chocolate chip pancakes. Our room was really more like an apartment on the first floor, huge, with two double or king beds, a big shower room, and a spacious kitchenette and dining area with a table and sofa. They provided beach towels, and we used the pool on our last day. There’s also a guest shower and bathroom to use if you have a few hours after checkout. It was our last stop on a fly-drive holiday, and a very pleasant surprise, well located for Manuel Antonio beach. We’d stay again if we’re in the area and would definitely recommend it. Thank you.

Diego and Caleb were amazing, and the whole staff has been phenomenal. The free breakfast every morning was a great start to the day. Set against the rainforest, the hotel has lots of animal life behind it, and the rooms are magnificent and turned over daily. I honestly can’t say enough about how great this hotel was during our 15-day stay.

The road in front is busy, and the hotel doesn’t look like much from there. Around the back, though, it’s surprisingly pleasant, with monkeys and macaws in the trees over the pool. Our rooms were large, clean and nicely laid out, with some of the art sold in the gallery that also serves as reception. They smelled damp at first, but the smell quickly went away once we turned on the AC. Breakfast was good, but there’s no dinner restaurant at the hotel. The restaurant they recommended, El Arado, was absolutely awful. There are much better places a few minutes’ walk away and in Quepos town.
