Villas Mymosa

The rooms felt dated, especially with the shower and toilet not working very well, but we didn't mind too much since we spent little time in ours. What made the stay was the exceptionally sweet, kind staff. They clearly cared about guests, and we felt very welcome over our two nights. Manuel Antonio is generally an older city, and in my experience many of its more affordable hotels are similar. The atmosphere was amazing. It's a little farther from the beach and national park than we wanted, but being away from the big crowds was nice. Restaurants and stores are within walking distance.

The staff made our birthday trip unforgettable. They welcomed us with wine and flowers, then had a homemade cake ready the next morning. Everyone was incredibly friendly and sweet, and the rooms were huge and really clean. The hotel is between two towns, with not much close enough to walk to, but we took the bus everywhere. It was easy to figure out and much cheaper than a taxi. I'd highly recommend staying here!

This place felt nostalgic to me, and I liked it. When visiting countries beyond the US, you need to keep an open mind and do your research instead of comparing everything to Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, and other chain hotels. These buildings blend tastefully into the local surroundings rather than being concrete monstrosities. The floors are tile or stone, not carpet, and are mopped spotless. The rooms are spacious, bigger than chain hotel rooms in the US. A single room with a queen and king can easily fit a family of four.

We were able to check in early, and they even upgraded our villa for free. The staff were super nice and helpful. The pool was lovely, and breakfast offered five great choices. We spotted macaws, monkeys, and tucans on the property. There's a bus stop right in front, with rides to Quepos or Manuel Antonio for less than $1. The kitchen was properly equipped, and the room had AC and several fans. The king-size bed had a very comfortable mattress.
