Blue Iguana

The place is peaceful and not overcrowded, and the iguana is reasonably priced, a more authentic way to experience Samara. It's right beside Samara Beach, just a block away, and the staff and owners took great care of us. There are lots of adventures on offer, including sunset trips on their beautiful catamaran where you can see sea life like sea turtles. I went on several quad trips, including one to waterfalls and to see Playa Baracona, and they were fantastic. The howler monkeys are incredible, and the little Anotoles and squirrels are adorable. Beautiful little piece of paradise!

The beach is just around the corner, and the location may be the best thing about Blue Iguana. We had a great stay, and the new ownership may have made all the difference. Staff are friendly, and many speak English, which can be helpful. There's a pool, bar and restaurant, and rooms are cleaned every day. We got breakfast vouchers but didn't use them, since we found better food elsewhere. If you're on a budget, the prices are very reasonable, breakfast is included and every room has AC. It's a lovely place. The walls are thin, so you can hear neighbors. That didn't bother us, but it might not suit you if you're sensitive to noise. We'd recommend Blue Iguana.

The restaurant chef is fantastic. He makes a range of dishes, with especially great Mexican food. The upstairs bar has a good drink selection and often has a daily special, and the pool area is lovely, with lots of loungers and shaded tables. Our room was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and always keen to help. It's an easy walk to the beach and into town. I had a wonderful time here and would absolutely stay again.

We chose this hotel for a girls' trip and had a great week. The staff were incredible, so welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with what we needed for a relaxing stay. The new Canadian owners have made some good improvements, and you can tell they care about making guests feel comfortable and welcome. The pool area is awesome, with plenty of seating and a relaxed feel. The bar shows all the major sports, and the drinks are great and among the best-priced in town. Try the slushy of the day! The location is hard to beat, just steps from the beach and close to everything we needed. The restaurant is fantastic too. The chef is from Mexico and makes delicious, authentic, flavorful food. We kept going back for more. Free breakfast is a great start to the day, with excellent coffee and fresh fruit. Highly recommend it for a budget-friendly stay in the area.
