Cariari Garden Boutique Hotel

We had a confirmed booking for that evening, but only a few hours before we arrived, while we were boarding our flight, the hotel sent a brief message saying it had been cancelled. There was no explanation or alternative. The booking still showed as active on Booking.com, so we had to call the property ourselves. Staff were unhelpful, and their explanations kept changing: first overbooking, then maintenance, then billing and check-in time. None of it came across as honest or professional. This left us scrambling for somewhere to stay on one of San José’s busiest nights, when a major concert had nearly every hotel sold out. The staff vaguely offered to help us find another hotel, but gave us no practical solution, especially since we were on a plane and had received no advance notice. Cancelling a confirmed reservation at the last minute without a clear reason or proactive contact makes this place unreliable. I’d warn future guests that a booking might not be honored, even on arrival day.

Our host was kind and so helpful, even arranging laundry on short notice and packing breakfast for our early flight. The room and bed were comfortable, with all the necessities covered. We had a lovely stay and would happily return. I’d recommend it to others.

A lovely, quaint place where the staff really try to make you feel welcome and cared for. We found it quiet and peaceful, and the neighborhood and park felt safe for walks. It was a great spot to rest and explore hidden gems around the greater San Jose area.

Clean, well-kept place, and the staff were incredible. I’ll definitely come back.
