Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, San Jose Aeropuerto, Costa Rica

The grounds were well cared for, and the kids had fun in the pool, though the water felt a little cold. Our room was spacious but somewhat dated, and breakfast was amazing. We were glad the hotel shuttle was available after our late flight arrived.

The pool and breakfast were good, and it’s easy to reach from the airport, which makes it handy at the start or end of a trip. Still, don’t expect a luxury 4-star stay. The hotel feels basic and could use updates. The rooms and hallways look like they haven’t been renovated in over 20 years, and we found cockroaches right away in the first room, so we changed rooms. There’s no elevator, so you’ll have to carry your bags upstairs. I’d ask for a room on the pool side, which seemed nicer than the hallway near reception. It may suit someone on a budget, but keep expectations modest.

Breakfast was a highlight, with a nice choice of fruit, eggs, rice and beans, and chicken. There are also restaurants and shops within walking distance. Our room and bathroom were clean, and the beds were comfortable. The front desk made check-in easy, and the complimentary shuttle runs about every 10-15 minutes. It’s a convenient spot, roughly 10 minutes from the airport, and I’d recommend it for a comfortable, simple stay nearby.

After a long, tiring journey, we were able to settle into a lovely, comfortable room and finally get a restful night’s sleep. That came after a mix-up, since the first room we were given wasn’t the category we had booked. The staff responded quickly and handled it with professionalism and real care, moving us to the right room. We’re grateful to the whole team for sorting things out so promptly. We have another stay booked for April 26 and are looking forward to coming back. We hope everything goes smoothly right from the start next time. We’ll happily recommend the hotel to friends and acquaintances. Our compliments to the team.
