The breakfast buffet was one of the nicest parts of our three-night stay. It wasn’t the biggest, but everything was fresh and delicious, especially the pastries and fresh fruit. Our room was clean, nicely laid out, and very nice, and we used the delightful bar and lounge every night. All the staff were smiling, pleasant, and helpful. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. I don’t know when we’ll be back in San Jose, but if we are, I’m staying here.

After a 14-hour journey, Hotel Palma Real San José was convenient for our one-night stop, and the front desk staff were helpful and polite. The rooms are very dated, though. There are no overhead lights, the lighting controls are complicated, and the old air conditioning worked poorly and made the room less comfortable. Our first room had a leaking toilet. We were moved, but then the second room had lighting problems. The staff tried to help, but we were exhausted and felt it took a long time to sort everything out. It was acceptable for a quick overnight stay because of the location and helpful staff, but the hotel could really use renovations and modern upgrades.

Javier was amazing, helping us with everything from dinner reservations to daily outings. It felt like I made a good friend, and I hope to see him again when I return. The hotel staff were all pleasant and keen to make our stay nice.

The rooms were gross. When we walked in, there was a purple stain on the bed sheets, and staff didn’t respond when we asked them to change them. We arrived with a group and they immediately made assumptions. They have alarms on each door and restrictions on young adults that aren’t needed. HORRIBLE, the staff were rude and unhelpful. San Jose is an amazing city, but I can’t say the same for this hotel. I would NOT recommend staying here!
