Hotel Don Taco

At Hotel Don Taco, the receptionist made a real difference to my stay. He was incredibly kind and welcoming, and went out of his way with tips and advice. Even when I just asked for a taxi, he'd suggest cheaper options or tell me if the place was walkable. The staff in general were very friendly and welcoming, and the property is beautifully kept. The location is great, less than a five-minute walk from the main strip of shops and restaurants, but not right in the middle of downtown. There was some downtown noise at night, as expected, but the stay still felt safe and couldn't have been more perfect. The hotel and cabins are beautiful, prices are great, and breakfast has different options. I'll definitely return. Couldn't recommend the place or staff more. 10/10.

The staff were lovely, and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was tasty, with fresh fruit and hot choices, and we really enjoyed the restaurant, especially the pizzas. The bar next door had a friendly bartender, good cocktails, and great offers, so we spent both evenings there. There was also a coffee machine with ground coffee and a fridge in the room. The place had a cheerful feel, with groups of young people who seemed to rate it well compared with other hotels they’d tried. We only stayed in the basic rooms, so the upgraded ones could be different. The price is very low, which is worth bearing in mind. Our room was small, with little storage, and the dated decor included mismatched diagonal pine boards. The old tiled bathroom, with dark purple fixtures, felt gloomy. Everything seemed worn and poorly maintained. There was no heating, which we unexpectedly needed in the area, so the room felt cold and damp and wet clothes wouldn’t dry. There was no hot water at the basin, and the shower ran out before we could even get a short lukewarm wash.

We had a really pleasant stay. The rooms were spotless and had a nice view, and breakfast each morning offered plenty to choose from. The restaurant was the highlight for us: tasty food, a good bar, and wonderful service. We ate there every night. It’s a bit of a walk uphill from town, though not enough to put us off. Free coffee in the room would have been nice. Special thanks to Wanda, who patiently helped arrange all our tours. Highly recommend it!
