Casas del Toro Monteverde

We had a wonderful time here. The grounds are beautiful, and the apartment is in a great location with gated parking and everything we needed. Andre checked us in, walked us over, explained everything, and answered the question I forgot to ask before he left. Thank you!

We loved the grounds and the little soccer field for the kids, and having a washer and dryer was a bonus. The modern apartment was clean, with a kitchen that had a toaster oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, and stove. The bed was pretty comfortable, and our two kids shared the twin bed in the same room. There was also a closet and balcony in the one-bedroom unit. A few things could be better: we needed a space heater at night, the shower never got very hot, and you can't flush toilet paper, though that's common here.

The view from room 4 was spectacular, with big windows overlooking a lovely garden and private property. It was clean, cozy, and roomy for two, near the CPI Spanish school, where you pick up the keys and welcome package. We rang the bell and the front desk attendant explained everything in detail, then helped arrange a ride to Guanacaste beach for the next leg of our trip. We walked into town, which was quite a trek with all the hills and climbs, though taxis are easy to find. There are plenty of restaurants, from cheap meals to fine dining, and the attendant can give you a list. Google Maps helped us find nearby places and work out walking and driving distances. We booked an extreme canopy and zipline tour and made a quick visit to the cloud forest. We found Diego at a hostel in town, and he did a GREAT job explaining the tour. He was helpful and local to Monteverde, which made our short stay really enjoyable.

The hotel is breathtaking and its location couldn't be more perfect. My family is super impressed, and I love it. At night, you can hear the wind howling through the windows. We are presently at CPI Casas del Toro Monteverde, with an annex not far away. Just be aware that Expedia shows a picture with a swimming pool, but there isn't one here. I'd suggest offering breakfast as part of the packages. There are several restaurants nearby, though, and you can cook for yourself or buy food at one of the many places around.
