We regretted booking just one night at Valle Escondido Nature Reserve. The sunsets were stunning, and the quiet, authentic surroundings made it easy to disconnect and feel time slowing down in this hidden valley. It was unforgettable, and we'd love to return for a much longer visit. The place brings together a peaceful resort, a working farm, and a wide natural area with beautiful hiking trails. Every corner feels thoughtfully connected to nature, giving it a special atmosphere that's hard to describe in just a few words.

The permaculture farm and hammock garden make it easy to spend a few hours here, and the entry fee is definitely worth it. There's a great walk to a stunning waterfall dropping into a canyon, with views across Tacoma Valley and the whole Nicoya Peninsula. We hadn't seen a valley view during our two weeks in Costa Rica, so this felt extra special.

The nature trails were varied and tucked away, and the hotel grounds and our balcony both had lovely views. The reception area was beautiful, and everyone from the hotel and restaurant staff was friendly and accommodating. Set inside a nature reserve, this special hotel also has a restaurant serving farm-to-table meals. We couldn't have asked for anything more on our trip to Monteverde.

I felt safe and comfortable exploring the reserve trails on my own and walking into Santa Elena. The reserve itself is so peaceful, and having trail access right from the room made it easy to explore more of the forest. The staff were warm and helpful, and I really enjoyed the night tour too. Our guide knew a lot. I had such a great stay and would definitely recommend it. I hope to come back!
