The location is a real plus, within walking distance of the beach, and Avital, the current manager, was kind, smart, and genuinely helpful. She made our stay a lot better, and I hope things go well for her. The rest of the experience was deeply uncomfortable. Other travelers weren't friendly, and most staff just stared blankly and seemed unable to answer basic questions. Our first room had broken AC and sat beside a very loud, messy kitchen. This place seems suited to people absorbed in partying and self-indulgence. I wouldn't stay again, and I worry Eso will keep crumbling under its own ignorance and spoiled behavior over the next two years.

The kitchen was so filthy I couldn't even make myself a meal, which is a real shame because the volunteers are lovely, the pool is great, and the free activities are fun. Thanks to Cher for the yoga and meditation. I still won't come back because of the kitchen. There were bugs and ants all over, and the fridge was too small. People shifted food around and crushed it at the back; they really need another refrigerator. The pots and pans were in awful shape, as were the sponges, and with people leaving dirty dishes around, cooking was impossible. I don't understand how guests are expected to use a kitchen in that state. Cameras might encourage backpackers to be more respectful, because the mess is a disgrace. I want to feel comfortable at a hostel, and I couldn't here.

I felt right at home and ended up staying longer than I meant to. The staff and other guests had great energy, and it was really easy to meet people. The location is excellent, near both the beach and the center. Loved it, and I'll be back!

I came for one night and kept extending, rebooking each evening for the next day, until I'd stayed eight days. The rooms and hostel were clean, and the staff were pleasant and attentive. It's hard to beat the location, and the board rental deal through the hostel is great.
