Epic Adventure Lodge

I didn't stay at the hotel, just joined one of their rafting trips. Our whole group was new to rafting, and everyone had a great time. Coco was phenomenal. I work in tourism, so I know what makes a good guide, and he was excellent. Definitely a trip highlight.

We went rafting with Epic Adventures for an afternoon, not for a hotel stay, and took our kids, 11 and 13. It was very well run, friendly, and great with the kids. Since it was the end of the season, the water wasn't too rough. Our guide was great fun, spoke good English, and a safety kayaker came along and took photos. Our family of four had our own raft. We'd recommend it.

The food made breakfast something we looked forward to every day. Marcela's cheese tortillas and pancakes were amazing, and she was so kind. You can tell she puts a lot of love into the cooking. The property was also perfect for our stay. We loved the accommodations and could picture coming with family or a big group of friends. There are places to grill and hang out by the pool, open grass and a field, jungle trails, and a shared kitchen for group dinners. We came from Colorado, and my fiancé lives and breathes white water kayaking. Epic Adventure had the best boats in Costa Rica, and Cuca was phenomenal. My fiancé got in lots of great kayaking and ran his first waterfall. Cuca also thought carefully about how to include me in the trips, which I appreciated. It's a great setup for avid white water adventurers. We loved the authentic feel of the town and surrounding area. People were kind and patient with our Spanish, and we found lots of hidden gems. Don't skip the recommended local dining. Thanks to Epic Adventure for such an epic start to the trip. We can't wait to come back and share this slice of heaven with friends and family. We had a great afternoon rafting trip on Thanksgiving, about two hours on the water. The team were professional and friendly, and it was a lot of fun. A second person came along in a kayak for safety and to take photos. We got 80 great pictures for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend.
