We stayed four nights at La Palapa. It was noisy until late, though not too much of a problem until the last night, when loud bass from a nearby club went on until 2am. The hotel can't control that, but very light sleepers may not find this the best area. The rooms were well equipped, and it was amazing to step straight onto the sand. Staff were helpful and friendly, and I got an amazing beach massage from Kayla, with a discount for hotel guests. The hotel also has shaded beach chairs, which came in handy during the hot parts of the day when the beach has no shade. We had an excellent stay.

The special energy here comes from the blend of jungle, beach, and community life. Other places from Asia to Mexico may have beautiful beaches, but they don't compare with the lifestyle in Costa Rica, Guanacaste, and Tamarindo. This place really feels like paradise.

Audrey and Rolando are first class hosts and do everything they can to make your stay great. The room is clean and basic, and you're steps from the ocean, shopping, and great dining. A wonderful place to stay in Tamarindo, highly recommended.

The desk staff were kind and really helpful in making our stay a good one. We had a lovely time in what felt less like a room and more like a little house, right by the beach among the palm trees. There was a good bed and a nice spot to sit outside our little house, plus lots of room downstairs to relax on the sofa.

The restaurant is stinky and unattractive, and we felt it takes away from the hotel's nice, homey look and feel. Still, we didn't like Tamarindo, but we did like La Palapa. I had to adjust my expectations and think of the stay as glamping, or glamorous Costa Rican camping. The kitchen smelled, but the smell didn't reach our room, and the restaurant noise didn't either. Quiet hours start after 10pm. Make sure to have breakfast at Buen Appetito, it was very good! It's not the fanciest place, but you get a lot for your money. The beach is right there, with shade, hammocks, beach beds, showers, and towels. The room had a safe, fridge, another shower, kitchen, drying wrack, and more. Whenever we turned the card on the door, our room was cleaned right away. The manager was professional and on top of requests, and we got a good new pack and play for our baby.
