The rooftop is a lovely place to watch the sunset, with a great view of the ocean and mountains. I stayed in a capsule in the women’s dorm and felt comfortable and safe. Norman, the manager, was especially warm and welcoming, and easy to talk with. Everyone seems to put real care into making the hostel feel like home. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the nearest supermarket and 15 minutes to downtown Tamarindo or the beach. I’d recommend stopping by.

Stayed three nights and found this place underrated. It may look far from the beach, but the closest access is only a 15-minute walk away. The staff are kind, especially the lovely woman who runs the bar and restaurant. She makes delicious breakfast and feels like the Spanish auntie you never knew you had. Very hospitable, and there’s a cute butterfly garden too.

A perfect little spot with a pool, views, food and a bar. The hosts are so kind. We locked ourselves out more than once, and they came to rescue us within minutes every time.

We spent two months visiting Tamarindo and lived across the street from Pupa House. We loved seeing its peaceful garden from our windows. A few times we stopped at the cafe for the delicious food and the amazing view from the top deck. The people there were always friendly and helpful, waving and saying hello when we passed by.

We went to see the butterfly sanctuary and really enjoyed it. Pamela also showed us around the hotel, which was very cool. The rooftop terrace and bar are large and have fantastic views.
