The location was the big plus: so close to everything in Tamarindo, with relaxing terraces and balconies and cute seating. The kitchen was clean but had very little stocked in it. Each room had its own cupboard for food, which was a good system, though someone unfortunately took our drinks from the fridge. Label your things. The room didn't feel especially clean, with dirty, smudged walls. The shower drained badly and left an unpleasant bathroom smell, and the beds weren't very comfortable. Our door handle broke midway through the stay, so we had to move to another room for one night while it was repaired. Staff tried to be friendly, but there was a clear language barrier, and some seemed frustrated with us because of it. I might stay again for the location, but it wouldn't be my first choice when we return to Tamarindo.

Such a good hostel vibe. The new owner is a smart Italian, and the crew are great. There's also a lovely cat and dog. It's clean and very quiet on the third floor, with a supermarket downstairs and bars and restaurants just a few meters away. I'd definitely stay again :)

At $20 plus tax in high season, it's super central and has a nice view. The shared area wasn't much to look at, but the bed was the worst I've ever slept in. The top bunk felt like being on a boat, it moved more than I did, and the mattress was truly horrible. Tamarindo has lots of good hostels, and this was my least favorite.

This hostel is on the second and third floors, a few meters from the city center, with a supermarket right at the entrance. Dorms have three sets of bunk beds, lockers, shared bathrooms, and a shared kitchen. The small terrace is really comfortable. Kitchenware is a bit limited and the oven was out of order. Volunteer staff are so friendly, and the owners have great vibes.

There was something unsettling about the only night I spent there: when I woke up, I had bites all over my body and had felt something in the mattress. At 7am, I also found two strange people sleeping on the stairs as I left. The room was a mess, and I had to ask twice for it to be cleaned. The shared showers had no privacy between women and men, and they were so dirty. I found three cockroaches in just ten minutes of showering. I wish you could attach photos to a review like this so you'd understand how dirty the whole place is. Disgusting.
