Villa Nautilus

The breakfast on our private patio overlooking the pool was well worth the extra cost, and the room it came with was nicely furnished with quality furniture. The bed didn’t make a sound, even when it had reason to! This was my first Costa Rica trip, and we felt incredibly lucky to end up at Villa Nautilus. Agelie and her family were kind and helpful, making the stay much more enjoyable than a fancy hotel or bourgie resort could. I’d say there’s no better location in Tamarindo, whether you’re there for a short or long stay. It’s in the heart of downtown, about a 3 minute walk to everywhere that matters, but tucked away on a private, quiet cul-de-sac. You’re in a peaceful haven, then a short walk gets you to the clubs or the beach. Catamaran tours and other outings leave from a spot a few hundred yards away. I got so lucky finding this place on my first visit, and I’ll never want to stay anywhere else when I return to Tamarindo.

It felt a little like home here, with a cozy atmosphere and a really nice room that was clean. The place is central but quiet, and service was extremely kind. The owners were so nice and gave us lots of tips for things to do, including beaches, food, and the best surf spots. We loved it and would recommend it 100%.

The shared pool was right outside our clean, nicely sized room, and we could use it along with the other guests. My wife and I stayed at Villa Nautilus over New Years last year, on our first visit to Tamarindo, and the location was perfect, literally down the road from the beach. Agelie greeted us and was really helpful, sharing what Tamarindo and this part of Costa Rica have to offer. She’d lived there for years and knew all about tours, restaurants, and the area. Whatever you name, she could help with it. We’d absolutely recommend staying here if you want privacy near the beach, bars, and restaurants. We only stayed one night at Villa Nautilus, but it was a perfect find: quiet, with the beach an easy walk away. After a long day, we wanted somewhere that felt like home where we could unwind by the pool, and this was just right. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh juice, real coffee, and tasty jams. The room was comfortable and tidy with a nice view. It was my first time in Tamarindo and Costa Rica, and I’ll remember this place fondly.
