We came for a week starting February 1, our first trip to Cuba, and were nervous about the stories we'd heard about food and rooms. We were really surprised. The room was clean from the moment we arrived, and housekeeping went above and beyond, even putting rose petals on the bed for our honeymoon. The chefs cooked our meals separately when they learned we don't eat pork, and made them spicy because that's how we like them. The entertainers, Alex and Daniel, are the best and have become friends. Talia, the guest services manager, was so sweet and did a lot to make our stay memorable. Kevin and Cristian at the coffee bar are incredibly jolly. This place is a hidden gem, and I'm glad we went before it gets really popular. I'll be back soon.

The whole place feels like the hotel itself took a long vacation and never came back to work. The room and bed smell, the bathroom is dirty, the walls are stained, and the TV doesn't work. The staff are numerous, about ten for every guest, but useless when you actually need something. The lobby, bar, and pull are noisy all the time, with three different music sources. Food is plain and boring. There's no hot water, and the cold water pressure is a joke. The beach is nice, though I've seen many better ones in Cuba. This is a five-star hotel like a dentist is a medical doctor. What a waste of time and money. Just skip it.

The people here were so kind and treated us like family. Not everything was perfect, but they'd help however they could. The resort used to be called the Melia and was recently bought out and renamed. We were nervous because there were no reviews, but were glad to find it beautiful, well kept, and staffed by great people. One chef took care to prepare our food separately from the meats, pork, beef, and chicken, since I eat halal. There was always fresh fish and plenty of food. I'd definitely return for the treatment, food, and service. The beach was the best I've ever seen, and Play Pilar is only a 10 minute ride away, best beach in the Caribbean!

The staff are amazing, and both the beach and pool are fabulous. The rooms are clean, and the food is good, though limited, as expected for Cuba. Camino Del Mar, previously Melia Cayo Guillermo, reopened in dec 2024. There are still a few things to work out, but it's getting there.

Maybe I went at a bad time. The hotel still seems to be missing a lot. It feels like it was closed and reopened before it was really ready, and it needs better direction. Some employees did the best they could. I'm very grateful to the entertainment guys, the waitress in the room, the reception guys, and the bar staff.
