We only came here to sleep overnight, and the property was so pretty. The rooms were fine for a bed and breakfast in the jungle. The food was fresh and delicious, and the staff were generally very kind. Kudos to the restaurant manager, who was especially nice.

The location was amazing, and both the staff and food were good. The hotel itself is beautiful, but damp rooms brought my rating down to three stars. The doors weren't sealed, with a two-inch gap underneath that could let critters in. I'm not good with that. The pool wasn't working either.

Water problems, poor-quality food, and a dirty pool that wasn't heated as advertised made this the worst experience of my life. The hotel is lousy. The old bowling alley was dirty too, with a plague of dead animals inside. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Everything around this place is a disaster. It feels like going back to Soviet times, and the hotel is dirty, ugly and disgusting. Don't stay here unless you really have to.

For a visit to Topes de Collantes and its wonderful jungle walk, taking a day trip from Trinidad would have spared us a bad hotel experience. At Los Helechos, we didn't feel welcome and got no basic service. I know the hotels in Cuba are state run, but guests should still be welcomed and receive a minimum level of service. Don't waste time staying overnight here.
