Hotel Jagua, Affiliated by Meliá

Hotel Jagua has a lovely harbor view, and our room was clean and roomy. My roommate and I had a hard time getting the door open from outside, needing several tries each time. The pool and its surrounding area were shut for renovation. WiFi didn’t reach the rooms and only worked in some parts of the lobby.

The staff could be a bit scatterbrained at times, though that seemed part of the laid-back Cuban character. The food wasn’t great, but it was typical for Cuba. Still, this is a friendly hotel in Cienfuegos, and the town is well worth seeing.

The Green House is a beautiful place, but the service was terrible when I visited yesterday. I asked him to make two mojitos, and they never came to the table. The clerk is also the bartender, and seems to do neither job well.

I was born in Cuba and now live in the US. It was very disappointing to feel that the staff treated me differently and discriminated against me because I’m Cuban. I spent most of my time outside the hotel with family and friends, but even my limited time there was unpleasant. The service was awful, and I’ll never return.
