We stayed at Casa Colonial Habana 25 during week 24, June 6th to 13th. The location earned five stars: it's right in the heart of Havana, with almost everything walkable. The accommodation also gets five stars for its spacious rooms, each with a toilet and shower. Breakfast was one star, maybe even too generous. At €7 per person it was very poor, exactly the same each day, and the homemade juice was mostly water. We left it untouched each time. Hygiene was another one star. There was hardly any cleaning, towels weren't changed when we asked, and we had to keep begging for fresh ones. Security was one star too. The main door was broken and hard to close. We had to photograph the refrigerator contents because things kept going missing, and lock our room so no one who needed something could get in. Support gets minus five stars. Yaris, the owner of the Casa, was incredibly manipulative, always finding a reason we had to pay extra. Five glasses broke in an accident and we were charged 25 euros (!). We said we'd had enough of breakfast and didn't want it on our last day. She then said that unless we ate, we'd have to leave the building early and spend the day on the street with our suitcases. We gave in and ate a breakfast that wasn't even worth a euro. At first, we also exchanged euros for CUP through Yaris. They took the money across the street to exchange it, then charged us at a completely different rate, so we felt cheated again. The Casa Particular Habana 25 is excellent for its location and accommodation, but with Yaris in charge, I can only advise people to stay away. She treats her staff horribly and tries to profit from every opportunity with a terribly manipulative approach. Everything she says sounds like a threat. We had a wonderful time in Cuba, but she was clearly the disruptive factor in our holiday. STAY AWAY AS LONG AS YARIS IS IN CHARGE!
