Casa Nora

Of all the places we stayed on vacation, Nila’s was easily the best. Her home gave us a chance to experience Cuban life firsthand, and she was kind and attentive throughout. She cooks beautifully, and we got to try all kinds of Cuban dishes and cocktails. We went fishing on the Malecón, ate lobster, had our hair braided, and watched the Industriales, the capital’s baseball team. We also swam in the Malecón’s natural seawater pools, learned salsa, and enjoyed Cuban parties. Nila even took us to buy basic goods people receive through the monthly ration book. The house is three blocks from the Malecón and close to the Capitol Building. I highly recommend it! They take reservations on WhatsApp.

Clean and fairly quiet, this place felt like a pearl in the middle of Havana. It has glass in the windows and a real air conditioner, and it’s the most brightly lit house on the street. The owner speaks only Spanish. Bring tea, since you can’t buy anything on site, and consider bringing extra gifts or humanitarian aid. The photo shows the view from the balcony. I recommend it.

Nila is attentive and always ready to help, and the food is excellent. The house is gorgeous, meticulously cared for, and very clean. Right in Havana’s historic center, it felt better than a five-star hotel. A delight.

We felt at home in this lovely place, which is right in central Havana. Nila is friendly and helpful. I’d happily stay there again on my next trip to Havana.
