Gran Caribe Neptuno - Triton

The rooms were clean, but the beds and pillows smelled damp. The maids and other staff were courteous, respectful, and helpful. The hotel itself was terrible and old, with maintenance needed in almost every corner and no lights in the hallways. Of its elevators, just one was running, and it had stopped working by our last day. We had to carry our luggage down three floors to check out.

The pool was good, and after our first room on the 13th floor turned out very bad, reception moved us to a pretty good room on the 7th. The entrance looked nice, but during a day trip to finals, 350 euros disappeared from our safe even though we had locked it. It takes both a code and a key to open, but we could only use the code. Behind reception there was a bin of keys to all the safes, where anyone could easily reach them. We reported the theft to the police. I don't recommend the hotel: service is very poor, and I couldn't trust the people there.

On February 15-16 I stayed at this very poor hotel. There wasn't a buffet service on my first day, only a small restaurant on the second floor with a limited menu, and just one of the four elevators was working. After I had left, I realized I'd forgotten a container of pills for my family in Cuba in the room. I called the hotel, and they told me nothing had been found where I stayed. It's an uncomfortable place to stay and relax, and I don't recommend it.

After staying at two Gran Caribe hotels, I won't be going back to another. The hotel's photos are misleading, and the place was in the worst condition I've ever seen. Our room was dirty and in bad shape. One evening, rain came through the roof into the hallways and even onto the buffet floor. There was only one working elevator, and sometimes we waited up to five minutes for it to come down. The buffet food wasn't good, and the staff seemed unfriendly and sometimes barely noticed the guests. The brochure listed three restaurants, but only the buffet was open.
