Ernesto from public relations was very helpful when we were deciding where to have lunch. The staff were very kind, and there are several restaurants to choose from, including Asian, Indian, and international Mediterranean food. That's a great variety. The pool, cafe, and bars were new and excellent, and the food was great. We came from Singapore to Cuba and felt welcome the moment we walked into the hotel. The staff were friendly, especially Ernesto, whose warm hospitality made both us and our son feel at home. He's an asset to the hotel. Five-star experience, great vibes, and I'd highly recommend it.

The bar service was one-star, and the coffee was the worst I've ever had, burnt and bitter. I'm a coffee fanatic and have tried it all over the island. Even the most modest places served decent or good coffee, especially here in Cuba, the birthplace of great coffee and tobacco.

I decided to go to reception since I was nearby, though I'd first found the room online. The price at the desk was twice what the official website listed, so I asked if I could book online to get that rate. The man there, speaking English I could barely understand, tried to explain that online reservations somehow wouldn't show in their system even though they came with a reservation code, and might arrive only after check-in time had passed. The website said nothing about this. When I asked what would happen if I'd already booked online, he couldn't answer. It felt like he was trying to scam me into paying double. Do five-star hotels really have a check-in deadline? What if I arrived at night? Why wouldn't an online booking be instant, and would I have lost my money if I paid online? The poor English at a five-star hotel was unacceptable to me, so I decided to stay somewhere else.
