La Siguaraya

The neighborhood has some run-down spots, which is useful to know before staying here, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. It’s also away from the most popular tourist areas, so there are hardly any sellers around when you go outside. Service at La Siguaraya was very friendly, and the price felt in line with the quality. Still, a few things listed in the accommodation details were more or less missing. There were no welcome drinks, and the room was cleaned only after we asked. The staff couldn’t get the air conditioning under control, and the internet, which costs extra, worked very poorly in our room. If it only works in the common areas, that should be stated.

Rooms were clean, and breakfast was generous and tasty. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We’d really recommend this Airbnb over any hotel: Damian and Luis will help with whatever you need to enjoy the city as locals and mindful tourists. A fantastic little piece of heaven in Habana Centro.

Cuba can be complicated, and the support here made a real difference. The staff arranged taxis, booked reservations, and shared great ideas for things to do. Within just a couple of days, it felt like family. We had a magical stay at La Siguaraya in Central Havana, and we’ll stay here every time we visit.

The hotel wasn’t the highlight of our trip, even though we had a great time and an amazing experience overall. Its location was a reasonable distance from the old town, but the street got very dark at night. Wi-Fi was unreliable at best and didn’t work in our room. The staff were very nice and as helpful as they could be, but the place wasn’t up to the quality I usually expect. There were practical problems in the room too. The shower handle wasn’t fixed to the wall, and water pressure was very low. Tall guests would have a hard time with the toilet because there’s no legroom in front. The toilet paper was the thinnest I’ve ever seen, and the soap was just a sliver cut from another bar. Upstairs, the door to the walkway was very hard to open, and water kept dripping outside the room doors, so getting into our room meant getting wet.
