San Lazaro

The staff were kind and always willing to help us book tickets or call a taxi, and we had a really nice stay. Breakfast came with fresh fruit and juice. The neighborhood is somewhat damaged and dirty, but, like Cuba as a whole, it felt safe.

The rooms were clean and nice, the view was good, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It was also close to the main attractions. But we had no electricity for two days, and although they said it would come back, that was outside the hotel staff's control. Without air conditioning it was unbearably hot, and on the third day the water was off too. Those missing basics made the stay uncomfortable, so I can't rate it higher. The hotel should get a generator or warn guests ahead of time about possible outages.

Fernando and the rest of the team went out of their way to help us, and I loved the intimate atmosphere and the colonial feel of this piece of Habana Cuba's architectural history. The location was great too. I'll definitely stay here again when I visit La Habana. Thanks, guys!

Just a minute from the famous Malecón, this was a great base for exploring La Habana. We arrived late at night and were immediately offered fresh-squeezed fruit juice. The room was spacious and clean, with shampoo and body lotion in the bathroom, and using the safe was easy and free. The rooftop terrace is a nice place for a Mojito, and you can have breakfast there too. The fruit was amazing when we traveled in April and May. The staff were so kind, always smiling, spoke excellent English, and were happy to answer questions. Ask for Fernando or Carlos.
