There are just 29 rooms, with an outdoor saltwater pool and both indoor and outdoor dining. The staff are friendly, housekeeping is good, and the made-to-order food tasted better than buffet food. It's a nice option if you'd rather be away from crowds. There aren't many facilities on site, but guests can walk over to Rancho Faro Luna to use shared ones.

That amazing Caribbean beach is right at the bottom of the garden, but this place wasn't for me. The pool is large, and the cabaret evenings are loud and have a '70s feel. Dining is in a cavernous, echoing, soulless buffet hall. The hotel is too far from town to walk in for the evening. If you're after Cuban culture, local food, colonial French architecture, and music, stay in nearby Cuinfagos (?) instead. The reception desk was always too busy to sell me a Wi-Fi pass.

There were dozens of little crabs in our room, plus two cockroaches. We had no water at first, but it came on quickly after we spoke to the woman at reception. Other people in our group had trouble with their door entry tickets. I can't recommend this hotel.

The hotel is a long way from town, so unless you're after a very quiet spot, I'd look for somewhere closer. In the bathroom there was just soap and two thin towels, with no shower gel or shampoo, and no complimentary bottled water for brushing our teeth. At least there was hot water. The fridge didn't work and bare wires had been pushed into the power socket. The safety deposit box was out of order too. Restaurant prices and food quality were reasonable, but the choice was very limited and they served the usual tinned vegetables. The waiter accidentally doubled the drink prices on our bill, then corrected it.

There's no TV, no beach, and no working swimming pool. Many people have keys to your door, and prostitution is allowed and encouraged. I've been to Cuba over 14 times, and this is the first time I've had reason to protest.
