Kurhotel Escambray

The mountain scenery is lovely, and the hostel was surprisingly well organized for such a remote place as Trinidad. The bed and breakfast service was decent, and the customer service made our stay feel just right. It was a great place to stay, and much cheaper than a four-star hotel in Veradaro.

Set in the Escambray Mountains at about 800 meters above sea level, Kurhotel Escambray is a beautiful 210-room hotel in Topes de Collantes, Sancti Spíritus. It has cable TV, air conditioning, a restaurant, pool, gym, tennis court, nightclub, bar and taxi service. Visa, MasterCard, Cabal and BFI cards are accepted. The mountain setting makes it a natural base for ecotourism and the central hub of Topes de Collantes National Park. The hotel also offers rehabilitation and revitalization through 10 health programs, with accommodation and meals tailored to the treatment, including directed or medical diets as required. It caters to divers and pilots for their annual medical check-ups and fitness training. There is a specialist medical team, a gym and a heated pool for training. Divers and pilots, along with family members accompanying them, can also use recreational and leisure activities during free time and outside treatment hours. The venue is well equipped for events, especially those connected with nature and the environment. Experienced specialists help organize them, with meeting rooms, internet access, support staff and off-site activities tied to the event theme. The hotel handles details such as business presentations, cocktails and banquets. Spacious lobbies have scenic views, and there are five meeting rooms for 30 to 75 people, plus a plenary hall for 320.

The excursions were the best part, especially Codina. The tour guide and the included lunch were excellent, which is why I gave it two stars. Service at the hotel was nonexistent. The buffet was limited in quantity and choice, and the food was mediocre, just average.

Kurhotel Escambray has an interesting history tied to the Cuban Revolution and the development of education in Cuba during the 1960s. I invite you to visit and enjoy a pleasant stay.
