Casa de la Trinidad

Walking through the green front door on the main street and into the courtyard at CASA DE LA TRINIDAD, I immediately felt happy and at peace. It really is one of the best places I've stayed anywhere, not just in Cuba. Honestly, I'd give it six stars out of five. As an architect, I looked closely for flaws in the finish of the old building, but couldn't find any. The natural stone is good quality, and the bathroom is impressive, a real master bathroom with a little wood detail. My king-size bed had the best mattress I've slept on. Every corner was clean, and the cozy, creative design and warm, genuine colors gave the place an authentic feel. It's quiet and intimate, too. Ileana and the kind, helpful women around her made me feel as if I'd been part of the house for ages. Breakfast was fresh and enjoyable. I'd come back tomorrow if I could. The street made us a bit nervous when we first arrived, but opening the door was like finding a little paradise. The staff were lovely, the rooms were clean and had both A/C and a fan, and even soap and shampoo were provided. They gave us a complimentary cocktail, and the lady went over the map with us and pointed out what we needed to know. It's a really nice place, less than a five minute walk from the Centro. Jenny was especially sweet and helpful.

We booked the huge suite, and there are only three rooms here. The casa was spotless and had everything we needed, with super friendly staff who speak good English. They arranged a trip for us to the Sugar Mills valley, and the guide was really good. We enjoyed it much more than our cubatour trip to the mountains. I can't imagine finding a better place to stay in Trinidad.

It felt like home, and the owners and servers were great. A real hidden gem. We'll definitely come back.
