Iberostar Selection Varadero

We're having a great time at Iberostar Selection, and everything has been wonderful so far. Our room, 1809 connected, is spotless, and towels are changed every day; the bed linens are practically replaced daily too. Janeli Baez, Natalee, and Sandra on housekeeping take care of it with professionalism and real attention to detail. Their friendly attitude makes a big difference. Thanks to them and the whole team for making the vacation so relaxing and enjoyable.

The only awkward moment was when a woman called dayana approached us as we waited for our pickup and wanted us to hand over our phones so she could leave a review specifically for her. That was our only interaction with her. The rest of the team were amazing. In building 12, housekeeping kept the room beautifully clean and the water restocked, always with a smile. The groundskeepers were sweet and welcoming, the chefs helped with dietary needs, and servers were always there to top us up and greet us warmly. The drinks were fantastic, and the bar team were quick and lovely. James was a fantastic fella who always made us feel welcome. We had an amazing time.

The beach was gorgeous, the drinks were lovely, and the staff were so friendly. The pool bar team were especially good, and every gardener we passed greeted us warmly. The food was nice too, though clearer labels would have helped, especially for dietary needs. The odd part came after checkout while we waited for our taxi. A woman called Dayana, whom we hadn't met or spoken to before, approached and asked us to leave a review mentioning her specifically. She even suggested I hand over my phone. Then I saw her make the same request of other guests. It felt strange and a bit desperate, especially since I can now see so many reviews mention her. Not the nicest way to end the holiday.

We spent a week here as a family, and everyone had a great time. The beach is on a lovely stretch of coast, and the staff were attentive and very nice. Food was well above the usual standard for resorts in Cuba, with a decent choice of drinks too. The room was fine, though the centrally controlled A/C never really cooled it down enough, which got a little annoying. Also, watch for the sand bugs. You can't see them, but their bites show up later in the evening. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.
