We had no issues with our very clean sea view room, and choosing that view was the best decision. The hotel is lovely, right on an amazing beachfront, and the food was good. You can also get lobster on the premises. The people working here were lovely. Special thanks to Yumi and Lidice, who are wonderful and would go over their heads to help with everything. 💜

Even with a few rainy days, the entertainment was top notch, and the whole staff made lovely arrangements for us at lunch, dinner, and with some insanely delicious drinks. I came to Melia Varadero for my birthday, and Yumi and the customer service team helped my husband put together a wonderful surprise with a cake and decorations. Everyone was supportive and welcoming. Since we’re vegetarians, julio/hulio and patricio made us some fantastic dishes. The greeting staff were friendly too. Thanks so much, melia varadero. We’ll definitely be back. ❤️

The people here made our stay extremely pleasant. Mr. Joel was a real asset to MELIAN, so professional, attentive, kind, and discreet. His English was impeccable, he listened so well, and he genuinely wanted to help. After our late arrival, he took our luggage, got us to the room in a minute, and explained what we needed to know without us even asking. He kept appearing along the way throughout our stay, offering assistance. We felt lucky to meet him on our first night. Many thanks, Joel, for being so professional. Ms. Elianis, Ms. Lidice, Ms. Yumi, and many others I can’t recall also made our stay pleasant. The room was excellent and kept exceptionally clean. Food at the main restaurant was excellent too, and the beach was outstanding, with nice sand and a safe walk of just 3-4 minutes, shared with several hotels. Everything was perfect, and the weather was excellent while we were there. We left with the best feelings about our stay. A few things could improve: the tennis court surface should be made safe for players. In the main restaurant, IMO, serving cheese and cold cuts gives the impression of a cheap attitude toward guests. The room wi-fi could be more reliable. Since Cuba is surrounded by water, it might be good to offer tourists a large variety of fresh seafood at the prices private catchers charge for lobster. There are many Cuban artists working in NAIVE PAINTING and painting generally, so why not display and sell their work in the beautiful hallways? We stayed a couple of days in February. We arrived late and tired, and the check-in was exemplary, fast, accurate, and precise in every way.

The buffet, cafeteria, and bar teams were all friendly and welcoming, and they make tasty, refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails too. The pastries were incredible, a real 10/10, and the food was fresh, delicious, and nicely presented. Food was one of the best parts of our 7 days at Meliá Varadero. Oscar, the manager, deserves a special thank you for his professionalism, kindness, and support. He went above and beyond and made our stay unforgettable. Everything was excellent from beginning to end, with great service, food, atmosphere, and people. I’d give the hotel 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Varadero. You won’t regret it!

The Level lounge coffee is great, much better than in Mexico, and Level guests get free lobster at lunch every day. Tex Mex is very good too. The buffet coffee, on the other hand, isn’t good, and the buffet area gets crowded and stuffy. Sakura was only so-so, although they try hard to entertain guests. If you can, get The Level, it’s totally worth it. Food at Melia Varadero is actually not bad at all. The à la carte food and service felt pretty comparable to Atelier in Mexico, where my last all-inclusive stay cost 5 times as much. The Cuban staff are super nice. Rooms are a bit small, 33 square meters compared with 68 at Atelier, but the ocean view was nice. The main problem in Cuba is sand fleas. I barely saw mosquitoes, only one in five days, but the fleas at Cayo Blanco were rough. Four of us got over 100 bites. Bring at least 100 ml of repellent per person per week and spray everything, beds, chairs, and towels. There are about six cats around the hotel, healthy and clearly well cared for. Great value, and I’d definitely come back.
