BijBlauw Hotel

Our server, Jolijn, was attentive, informative, and delightful. We had a wonderful dinner at sunset in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The food was amazing: I had the chef's steak special with hollandaise, and my husband ordered mahi mahi. Both were perfect and delicious.

We didn't stay at the hotel, just ate at the restaurant. The location and views are great, but with the restaurant nearly full, our food took almost 90 minutes to arrive. Our server was sweet but new, and only checked on us maybe twice over two hours, so we kept waiting for water and drinks. The food was okay, not great, especially for the prices, and the portions were quite small.

The view was stunning and our server was kind. My husband enjoyed his egg royal, but I was disappointed by the croque madam. It looked beautiful, yet had just one slice of ham, so it was basically an egg, cheese, and mustard sandwich. At that price, I expected a bit more protein. We only ate at the restaurant, not at the hotel.

The atmosphere is lovely and the food was delicious. We didn't feel the service matched the place, though. Some orders never arrived even after we asked, but they were still put on the bill. At other times nobody checked on us, and we went a long while without drinks. Maybe that's nitpicking, but given the standards the restaurant sets for itself and the money we're happy to spend there, better service is fair to expect. Please take this as constructive criticism. With improved service, this would definitely be a five-star establishment.
