The hosts and staff were friendly and quick to help with requests, and the property felt very secure. Rental cars are available, which is useful for getting around the island. Sun Reef Village on the Sea is a quiet little oasis about 25 minutes outside Willemstad. The self-contained units were spotless and came with fully equipped kitchens. It’s a good fit if you want to get away from the city bustle while staying just minutes from the island’s beaches and other sights. The bungalow privacy and breathtaking ocean views make it a standout place to stay.

You can swim straight into the sea from the village, and the sunsets are lovely to watch each evening. There’s also a beach, a grocery shop, and a beautiful hiking area nearby. Sun reef has a lovely design and a cool atmosphere that makes it easy to feel at home between holiday activities. The owners greet you personally and help with questions, so you can relax without worrying about things. Highly recommended for a beautiful stay on Curaçao.

Even when cancelled flights caused a scramble at the end of our trip, they were incredibly accommodating. Sun Reef Village was a beautiful stay, with gorgeous villas, reef fish, and lovely sunsets. I can’t praise it enough. A must if you’re visiting curacao.

We’ve been coming back every year since 2019, and Herbert picking us up at the airport always makes it feel like we’re home again. We really enjoy this family-run place, managed by Ilja and her parents, Liesbeth and Wim. We also like being able to arrange the accommodation and rental car directly through the property. Sun Reef is a small property in a charming, quiet village, around a 15-minute drive northwest of Willemstad. There’s a small German dive center on site, run by Curacao Divers. The oceanfront bungalows are what make it special. Their little gardens reach the cliffs, and all except the “Sea Horse” bungalow have their own sea access. Steps lead down to a platform on a lower rock, then a ladder takes you into the water. Our favorite part of the day is sunset. We sit in deckchairs by the wall at the cliff edge with a sundowner and watch the sun go down into the sea at around 6:30 pm.
