Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino - All Inclusive

There are several restaurants on the property, and it’s all-inclusive, with food and drinks, including alcohol, covered. The pool has nice views and there are enough lounge chairs. The grounds are pleasant, with a cove-like outlet to the beach, though this isn’t a beachfront hotel with a full beach. The hotel itself is very nice, but the rooms could use a facelift.

The island and location were great, and the beach and ocean are fantastic, but the resort needs some care. Service varied a lot depending on who you dealt with, and the beds were hard. It felt like a Hilton hotel room, not a resort-style room. I thought the food was bad, though room service one morning tasted better. Some preferred bungalows are much nicer, but hard to get, with better service, rooms, and access to both Dreams and Zoetry resorts.

The Il Mare Beachfront Bungalow was spacious and unique, and it felt like we had our own private beach. We spent most days by its pool and the Blu bar. Kevin and Jessica were amazing bartenders and made our evenings memorable just by getting to know them. Breakfast at the Dreams buffet was very good for an all-inclusive, and the friendly staff remembered us and came over to say hello even when we weren’t in their section. Dinner at Oceana, Portofino, and Bloom at Zoetry was also very good, with great service. Rendy and Kobe, our Butlers, did a fantastic job. Our only complaint all week was room service: coffee arrived only twice, and pizza was available for dinner just one night because of the Fire Show. The pizza was excellent, though!

The app listing meal times and options was handy, but it wasn’t accurate. We went to the poolside grill when it should have been open and were told it wouldn’t open until 6 p.m. When we asked if food was available elsewhere, we were told no because the buffet had closed at 3:30 p.m., while we were still waiting to check in. Service was poor, and while we didn’t expect great food, we did expect a clean room. We were relieved to stay only one night. At the official check-in time, we were told the registration staff were in a meeting. Someone else took our paperwork and asked us to sit for 5-10 minutes. Group after group arrived and checked in while we waited. When we asked again after an hour, we got a surprised “you’re still waiting?” At check-in, we were charged more than we’d been told, despite discussing an extra child in advance and having an email that stated the amount due. The property later said the charge was correct and neither refunded the difference nor apologized for the earlier email. Our room was shockingly filthy. There was one towel for four people and no soap. The phone didn’t work, and after asking staff in person twice, we still got no towels or soap. The shower and tub were broken, very gross, and needed repair. The AC couldn’t be adjusted or turned off, and the room was somewhat warm. The TV had only two channels and wavy lines that made it unwatchable. One of the two bed frames was broken, there was mold and mildew in many places, and a pair of plastic gloves was on the bathroom floor. After I sent a few photos, the property said they were shocked at the room’s condition, but other reviews suggest this isn’t a one-off. This property should not be attached to the Hyatt or Dreams name.
