Hector Suites

We booked this hotel for the weekend of 28 of June, and the service was very poor. The lamps didn’t work when we arrived. The next day, the air conditioning was so loud and annoying that we couldn’t sleep. After we complained at the front desk, they moved us to another room, but it had no refrigerator or bathtub. The following day, a man brought the refrigerator and walked into our room without knocking. We told the front desk lady about everything, and she said they would call us. No one has called up to now.

The toilet drain and the pipes by the pool smelled horribly of sewage. Food at the restaurant was bland, and portions and choices were limited. The convenience store had nothing to sell, and the rooms were very outdated. I’ll never stay there again or recommend it.

The beach is just across the street from Hector Suite, about a 30-second walk. It’s public and never crowded, with beautiful sand and clear water. There’s also a lovely jogging path, so don’t forget bug spray. The parking area by the beach is a bit run down, but it isn’t the hotel’s property, so don’t judge the hotel by it. You can take drinks from the bar to the beach. If you’re not on all-inclusive, drinks and soda are $5usd. Raymond at the bar was great, funny, and knew how to make all kinds of tasty drinks 🔥. The hotel is about ten minutes from town, and the staff were helpful whenever we needed anything, 24/7. The pool was lovely, and breakfast from 7-10 am had great flavor. You can rent scooters, motorcycles, and cars right at the hotel. Driving was easy and GPS worked, but MAPS.ME is a good offline backup if your WiFi acts up. They drive on the RIGHT side of the road, if that’s what you’re used to. Taxis in CURACAO are expensive, so having rentals on site is handy.

The room was nice, but without a fridge we couldn’t keep our food fresh. It was also too dark, with just two small lights, and I couldn’t control the air conditioning. There was no phone, so we had to go downstairs again and again. Food service was slow.
