Kyrenia Palace Boutique Hotel

The courtyard bar is lovely, the downstairs decor is unusual, and the location is good. Those were the positives, because my husband and I had a terrible night here. I paid extra for a deluxe room advertised with an “extra large” bed, but the bed we got was tiny. The sheets felt like sandpaper, maybe because they were old and had been washed too much, and I spotted a long black hair on the bed before sitting down. The wallpaper was peeling and the room needed serious care. The walls were so thin that we heard a couple arguing next door around 4:30 am, then the mosque beside us calling for prayer at 5. When I raised the bed issue, the man at the front desk said Booking.com decides which room you get, so a deluxe booking with an “extra big” bed might not actually come with one. He cut the conversation short with “sorry for the inconvenience caused,” interrupted me several times, and wouldn’t let me speak. There was no offer of a refund. The breakfast was very basic, so I don’t understand all the positive reviews. Wi-Fi was very slow and kept dropping out. I booked because Booking.com listed this as four stars, though Google seems to show three.
