Topset Hotel

I’d definitely like to come back, hopefully in October. We enjoyed the welcoming staff, a clean and comfortable room, and delicious breakfast in the garden. It was lovely being able to reach the beach directly from the pool. The main building rooms all have sea views, while the bungalows, or whatever the right name for the small houses is, sit in a nicely kept garden. I think this is the best place for a vacation in the Kyrenia region.

Getting to Girne is easy on the local buses. Just wave and they stop, and the ticket was very cheap. Hitchhiking can also work if you’re going to St. Illarios. We visited in November, when the place was remote and nearly empty. The staff did their best to make us comfortable, though our top-floor room was worn out and had some mould in the bathroom. The surroundings were quiet, breakfast was very good, but the beach wasn’t very clean and it didn’t feel safe to walk there in the evening. It’s a “Hotell California” type of place :)

The biggest letdown for us was that we couldn’t have coffee or tea on our balcony. Beer, wine and soft drinks were allowed, but not coffee or tea. Such a pity. The restaurant furniture was also really uncomfortable. Still, the food was great and reasonably priced, and the staff were extremely nice. The place was really friendly and very clean. It lacked a bit of evening atmosphere, though. We’d have spent more evenings there if there’d been some background music and a candle or soft lighting. I’d recommend a stay if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and friendly.

A very welcoming, family-style hotel with its own little beach. The pool is always clean, and there are a few cats around too. The waiters are friendly and the food is tasty. I’d stay here again on my next visit to Cyprus.
