We came to Antigone's House to see the shoemaker's museum, then ended up spending a couple of hours with Andreas. He told us about growing up in the house, restoring it, and setting up the museum in memory of his father. Alongside traditional shoemaking tools, there are records of the shoes made there, an important piece of village history. Andreas was distilling when we met him, so we visited his winery too and sampled zivania as it came from the wood-fired still. We learned a lot about traditional village life and had a really enjoyable visit with a charming, hospitable local host and his wife. I can thoroughly recommend going.
