Elysso Hotel

The reception staff were friendly, which is the only reason I gave it +1 star. The location is next to building construction. The lobby looks about 50 years old, allows smoking indoors, and also serves breakfast, so you smell smoke first thing in the morning. The rooms are small, the windows are dirty, and the bed is only about 140×200. The pool wasn't working. At night I could hear any noise from the neighbours, and the bed was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. Now I have back pain. Don't book here unless you can't find anywhere else or don't have the money.

Location is the only good thing. My teenage daughter and her friend stayed two nights this past weekend, and the room was disgusting, with a moldy bathtub and a smelly blanket. They'd paid extra for breakfast, but got only coffee or tea, nothing else. When they asked for water, they were told they had to pay for it, so they refused and went elsewhere for breakfast.

The room was decent and clean, and the staff were great. The location was fine too, about a 20-minute walk to the main beach and 10 minutes from Lidl. There's a great sandwich shop nearby called Marantona, definitely pay it a visit. I paid £25 a night, and felt it was good value, though a few things kept it from getting 5 stars. The pool wasn't open, as it only opens in summer, even though it was 28 degrees this week and warm enough. You have to phone reception each time you want the air con switched on. Breakfast was free, but basic and the same every day. I'd recommend staying here for the price I paid.

We arrived late at night, and the staff were great. The room had no soap, and the air conditioning was noisy.
