Heart Hotel

The GOKI app was the highlight for me. It replaces key cards, so you can use your phone to enter both the hotel and your room. It worked smoothly and felt convenient and modern, the kind of tech I’d like to see more hotels use. Heart Hotel in Limassol is clean, nicely designed, and easy to find your way around. Check-in was straightforward, the staff were helpful, and the atmosphere felt fresh and contemporary. I had a great stay and would recommend it if you like hospitality with smart, easy access.

My room was beautifully designed and had everything I needed. The hotel combines the classic look of a grand old house with high tech check-in and infrastructure, which makes it an avant-garde boutique place. Staff were courteous and quick to help when needed. It’s on a quiet side street, a couple of minutes’ walk from the main street and the sea, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Some noise still carries through, given the old building and the everyday sounds of Limassol, but it wasn't too bad or enough to spoil my stay. The room doors could be easier to use. They’re narrow French doors, and one has surface bolts that can only be unlatched from inside. That made getting in at check-in awkward, especially with luggage. Housekeepers also kept bolting them again after I’d unlatched them. The doors are fussy to open, and with rooms so close together, they can add to noise inside the hotel.

The quiet green courtyard and the Honesty Bar were lovely features. Guests can choose drinks and snacks and pay for what they take, which gives the place a relaxed, trusting feel. The coffee machine was a letdown, though, since it gave me a water and milk mixture instead of hot water. There’s no breakfast, which I consider a downside. The location is walkable to Limassol's main attractions, but there are many rather shabby buildings around and few convenient sidewalks. There's a magnificent church right in front of the hotel, and I recommend visiting it. This is a small, elegant boutique hotel in a historic building listed as a cultural heritage site. It has been carefully restored, with modern minimalism and comfort alongside the building's history and character. Heart Hotels' first flagship project, it aims to turn abandoned or forgotten buildings into stylish places while retaining the historical spirit and adding modern art. I felt more attention to interior details and local character would help. I did like the private atmosphere, but some restoration choices need work. The metal shelves in the rooms were poorly fitted and awkwardly placed, and we hit our heads on them several times. Technical ventilation outside the rooms was very loud and affected our sleep and rest. It seems like old technology, since modern ventilation can be quiet. The shower ventilation also switches on with the light, which is especially unfortunate at night, and it’s noisy too.

I can only give this a low rating because a hotel needs to provide a good night's sleep, and the old windows let in a lot of noise, including loud cats at night. Cold air also came through gaps in the windows. We were there in bad weather, so the problem stood out even more. The heating worked well, but it seems wasteful to use so much energy to heat the room when fixing the windows could address the issue. The design and other amenities couldn't make up for these problems.
