Hills View Villa

This trip meant a lot to all of us after years of waiting to book a holiday because of covid restrictions. The disappointment started as soon as we arrived and kept going throughout our two-week stay. The villa is advertised as “luxury,” but our experience was the opposite. We'd requested a welcome pack with tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, wine, and a few beers. When we arrived at 11:30pm, there was only a bottle of milk and some butter in the fridge. On the first day, we also found shards of glass around the pool. We were told previous guests had broken a table, and were offered free use of the hot tub as compensation. Two of our children used the hot tub the next day and developed a bacterial rash that lasted for the rest of the holiday. They were also diagnosed with ear infections after complaining of pain, confirmed by a visit to the medical centre in Paphos. We reported this to the property manager, but he did very little to address the hot tub problem. We didn't use it again. On our departure day, it was finally emptied and cleaned. There were problems all over the villa. The air conditioning units leaked continuously, even after a maintenance team said they'd fixed them. The barbecue couldn't be used, the kettle was caked in limescale, and the table tennis table was barely standing, with old, worn bats and balls. The outdoor seating area shown in the description wasn't there. The downstairs toilet smelled of sewage, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, basically mats on wooden slats, and one bed in the main bedroom was missing wooden slats. Marios said he'd fix that, but we never saw him again. There weren't enough towels for everyone. Spare cushions had brown stains. The kitchen had no sink plug, cleaning products, or dish towels. There was no toilet paper or hand soap either, just empty dispensers in the bathrooms. Fixtures and fittings in most bathrooms fell off the walls when touched. Marios, the property manager, showed very little concern and seemed irritated when we raised the problems. Given what we paid, some compensation should be offered. It's shocking to advertise a villa in such poor condition. This was a much-anticipated holiday we won't forget, but for all the wrong reasons.
