Gul Hanim House Boutique Hotel

We’re definitely coming back to Cyprus, and we’ll stay here again without a doubt. The owner was incredibly helpful and gave us great tips on landmarks to see, cities to visit, and places to eat. The service was great, and a Turkish style breakfast is included in the price. It’s in a perfect spot, close to the city center, all the landmarks, and the bus station. A great place if you’re looking for an authentic experience. :)

The rooms are neat and clean, especially the bed linens. There’s a cozy feel, with a traditional private garden and a household kitchen with tea and coffee machines ready to use. The place was meant to revive genuine Cypriot hospitality and honor its late owner, Gül Hanım. It doesn’t offer overrated luxury, but it does feel like traveling through childhood memories.

I paid a fraction of what I’d spent at Cleopatra in the south, where I’d had a terrible stay and outdated rooms for over 260 Euros a night. At Gun Hanim, I had a great experience, and the food in the north tasted authentic and full of flavor. Staying on the northern side was much cheaper and much better for me, and I could simply walk across the border when I needed to. It’s only a few minutes away. Gun Hanim is a little authentic gem in the heart of Nicosia. I stayed in the Rose room, which was clean and traditional, with all the things I appreciate: strong water pressure, WiFi, AC, clean sheets, and towels. Breakfast was a highlight too. The owner’s homemade jam, made from fruit in her own garden, was delicious and not too sweet.

Selay made our stay feel special. She’s a kind, attentive host, and she and her staff put out a beautiful breakfast with delicious homemade jams and tahin. The rooms have lovely personal details, including hand-crocheted blankets and refurbished antique furniture. They all open onto a pretty courtyard trimmed in red and white. One of my favourite hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and a must-stay when visiting Cyprus.
