In the old town, with basic, clean rooms at a good price. Check-in was easy and self-service. The terrace was nice for a smoke or a bit of downtime, and both the A/C and WiFi worked. They also let us leave our bags for a few hours after checkout at no charge.

Room 7 has a comfortable double bed and a tiny, covered patio. There’s not much natural light, which helps keep the room cool. It also has AC, a fridge, and a hair dryer.

The location is very convenient, close to the Ledra crossing and shopping streets. There are lots of quirky antiques, and the rooftop seating area could be really nice, but it looked as if nobody had cleaned or maintained it for years. We were in Room 2. The bed was comfy and the tiled wet room was nice, but the finish was poor: the shower tap fell off and there was brown sealant around the toilet base. We got one tea bag for two people and no little milks. It was quite nice until we got into the room.

The location is very good, and for the price we didn’t expect more. There’s no breakfast, though, and the shower water was only just warm enough not to freeze. We didn’t have a blanket, just a sheet. One thing to watch: being near the border means your phone may connect to the Turkish network instead of the European one, and the fees can be significant.
