City Royal Hotel

I’d compare it to a one- or two-star hotel in Istanbul. The floor was clean, but the towels were visibly very dirty. Breakfast was a joke, I can’t call it breakfast food. Thank goodness I arrived very late and only slept there for one night.

It felt expensive, especially since we had to pay for everything we needed. The room service was very limited, just soap and a towel, and even the basic things you’d expect at a three-star hotel were missing. Breakfast was a very brief plate of food, and anything extra was forbidden. Parking was on the street in front of the hotel. They also wouldn’t charge the room card until the day had been paid for.

It’s a fairly small hotel, but the staff are remarkably friendly and always willing to help. I rented the hall for a while, and the service all around was good. The bar has a really nice view, and the place is very affordable compared with others of a similar standard.

The price wasn’t worth it, maybe €25 a night at most, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. The common areas smelled dusty and weren’t cleaned well. There’s one lift, and it’s very old, dirty, and didn’t look safe. The rooms need serious maintenance, with dirty floors and bathrooms and an old, narrow shower cubicle. Everything costs extra, even welcome water. Breakfast was a complete disappointment for a hotel at this price. The restaurant toilet was old and dirty, and there’s no pool, gym, or sauna. Reception staff weren’t polite.
