Amphora Hotel & Suites

The hotel’s location is perfect, and I liked that it isn’t an enormous resort like the others nearby. The staff had time for guests and there were no crowds. Everyone was wonderful and well-mannered, from reception and the kitchen staff, whom I warmly greet, to the gentleman at the pool bar. The food was excellent, varied, and themed, with something different each time and no monotony. The hotel has clearly been around for a few years, and some maintenance would help. There’s plaster coming off in places, a bent mirror frame, and a bathroom mirror that hangs loose. These are minor repairs that shouldn’t cost much and could make a noticeable difference. The place was clean and cleaned daily, and towels were changed every other day.

The view was wonderful, and the room was clean and spacious, with a big bathroom. Breakfast was a feast, and we had a really nice experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and arranged our airport transfers.

The staff were nice, though very quiet, almost like a monastery retreat. Breakfast starts at 8, and the pool sometimes shut at 16:00, apparently whenever staff got bored, so the timetables felt more like suggestions than promises. The buffet food wasn’t labeled, turning breakfast into a guess at what each sauce was. The breakfast itself was the same every day, probably since 1992, and the Wi-Fi crawled along. The rooms have a vintage feel, as if they hadn’t been renovated since the Berlin Wall came down. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were cold enough to suit penguins. The pool boy enforced the rule against moving umbrellas like national security, mostly because he didn’t want to move them back. Not really. Great place if you’re after cold water, warm bread, slow Wi-Fi, and mysterious silence. Otherwise, bring a blanket, a hotspot, and low expectations.

A very nice hotel at a reasonable price. The location is great, and all rooms have sea views, though there’s no private beach. The internet was fast 😁
