Hotel Veronica

I don’t understand the poor reviews. I’ve just had a five-night bed and breakfast stay, and found the hotel clean, friendly, and perfectly located. The room was comfortable, with extra pillows if needed, and lots of fresh towels that were changed during my stay. The rooms were cleaned and bins emptied every day. The public areas were also clean and comfortable, with a beautiful lounge to relax in and a very spacious restaurant. I only ate breakfast there, so can’t comment on evening meals. Breakfast was delicious, with a large hot selection, continental meats and cheeses, yoghurt, fruit, cake, and delicious rice pudding, always a winner for me. There must have been five different breads for toasting. Staff were attentive and cleared tables quickly. The pool area is large. I travelled off season, but there were plenty of beds and seating, plus a lovely pool bar. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and bars, restaurants, and kiosks are easy to get to. It took me a slow amble of 25 minutes to walk to the harbour. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

BE CAREFUL, THE CLEANING LADIES TRIED TO STEAL OUR THINGS. This wasn’t our first stay, and we’d lost things before but thought we’d misplaced them. It turned out to be the opposite. The hotel should take responsibility. We were deeply disappointed in the staff and owner during our one-night stay on 23/05/2026. We knew checkout was at noon the next morning. We left the hotel in the morning, and when we came back at 10:30 and opened the room door, all our personal belongings were missing. The room had been cleaned even though we hadn’t checked out or given anyone permission to touch our belongings. We searched and found a cleaning lady who acted as if she knew nothing. Then she started handing our things back from bags she had thrown away or hidden somewhere. Some of our belongings were in a basket with used toilet paper. We asked her to call management and the owner immediately. When they came to the room, we reported what had happened. They said it was okay because we were going outside with shoes on and tracking in dirt and shit. After a long discussion with the owner, we said we would file a complaint. He then said he would reimburse us, and even told us the value of some of our things was 250€. We packed what was left and went to reception to check out and get the compensation. The receptionist thanked us for our stay and said goodbye, so she clearly didn’t know about the incident. We explained it, and she called the owner. When he arrived, he apologized for the inconvenience and said he could only offer us one free night at the hotel. We told him there was no chance we’d stay there again. After our property worth around 500€ was destroyed, they only reimbursed us with the 80€ we had paid for the room.

The place was average at best in every way, so we moved to another hotel for the rest of our time in Paphos. We had booked through Bookings.com at an advertised rate of 75 euros, but the final cost came to more than A$181. We raised the difference with the staff, whose reaction suggested they weren’t concerned. That kind of response costs them customers.

For our single night, we paid 80 euros plus another 23 euros in fees, bringing the total to $181 Australian dollars. The room wasn’t impressive: it had a stale smell, old towels, no bottled water or soap, and no kettle, coffee, or tea.
