At the end of the meal, we got a nice little surprise: some cut up marmalade. The tavern had a friendly atmosphere, with photos, trophies, and other details on the walls, and the staff welcomed us warmly. We ordered calamari to start, then sea brim, octopus, pork souvlaki, and swordfish. Sadly, the food lacked seasoning and flavor, and didn't bring out the rich taste of the sea. There's room for improvement, especially given that the prices felt a bit high.

The interior was pleasant and parking was easy, and it wasn't very busy when I visited, around 40% capacity. Still, I left really disappointed. It had been recommended as a fancy luxury fish tavern, and I don't mind paying more when the food and service justify it. The food quality was no better, possibly worse, than at a simple seaside taverna. Some waiters seemed inexperienced, and some didn't speak English or Greek.

I had a bad experience at Karas and won't be back. The food wasn't great, the service fell short, and there was no communication among the team. Orders came out wrong and weren't what we asked for, and service was slow. I'm Greek Cypriot and heard staff complaining about customers in Greek. It felt like a tourist trap. Stay away if you don't want to feel ripped off.

Service was fine, but there was no warmth to it. The place looks good, yet doesn't deliver what it promises. The food didn't feel authentic, more like generic restaurant fare than proper Cypriot cooking. It doesn't seem to appreciate that some visitors to Cyprus know Greek Cypriot cooking very well. With so many great restaurants on the island, I wouldn't make a stop here.
