Marion

I spent two nights at the Marion while travelling on my own. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the deskman gave me helpful suggestions for places to eat and tavernas to check out. (And I’m really sorry I startled one of the housekeeping staff when I got back late at night 😂)

We had a good stay and, in my experience, the negative reviews don’t ring true. The hotel isn’t modern or new, but our room was clean and spacious, with a large comfortable bed. There’s air conditioning and an elevator, and shops, restaurants and a large pool nearby. For what it costs, it’s perfect. Thanks to the owner and employees.

We enjoyed our three days here, especially the pool, and had a nice chat with the very friendly staff. The lift, AC and TV all worked. I had my doubts when booking after reading some of the other reviews, but we were happy with our choice in the end. Just remember, it’s a two star hotel.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of the city center. There’s plenty of parking in front, though the lot is dirty and uneven. The building really needs renovation and investment. The rooms, corridors, reception and lift all feel old. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillow was hard, so I struggled to sleep. The carpets looked aged and disgusting, and the toilet was very hard to flush, I had to use my hand. The balconies seemed fine, but the doors didn’t seal properly and we could hear cars at night. Air conditioning was the one good thing in the room. It costs extra, but worked efficiently when needed and was gentle enough at night for sleeping. I could understand this standard at 30 euro a night, but not at 70 plus AC. I’d only recommend it if you have no other option, as we didn’t.
